Interactive Card Hop

I hope you are enjoying today's blog hop!  I know I will be learning alot as I browse through everyone's talented cards!  For those of you that haven't visited my page before, welcome!

I have a secret to share....  I'm not a card maker.  I CAN make cards... and do on occasion, but my main passion is scrapbooking.  That being said I love a good challenge and when I learned about today's hop, I wanted in.  Pop Up Twirl card?  What is that?  A sliding ladder?  Interesting!  Count me in I said.  Not knowing what any were I bravely asked to be assigned to a card and then looked up some tutorial and watched some viseos on how to make them.  I watched and said - HA!  Easy-Peasy!  I can do that!

Er.  That is, I THOUGHT I could do it.  My project turned out to be what my 13 year old would call an "Epic Fail".  There are paper scraps everywhere... splinter shards, glue in my hair, and about four different cricut cartridges laying on my floor.  Yeah, I'm a messy scrapper and it usually works for me.  Tonight, however, no go.  So sorry to dissapoint, but I cannot discrace this hop with the tangled mess of paper and twine that sits upon my desk.

If you would like to learn about how to make a Pop Up Twirl Card, there is a very easy to follow tutorial by Split Coast Stampers which can be found here.  I hope that I haven't offended and that you choose to check out some of my other projects so that you see that I'm not a total dud : )

Next on the hop is Angie at http://atuttletime.blogspot.com/  Enjoy!

  10. At least you took the chance to try something new! I don't know if I would have even tried. ;)

  11. You get points for stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new. I don't blame you for not wanting to post what your 13 yr old would call and epic failure. You tried and that's all that matters. I am the oposite of you I am a card maker, but I'm not great at scrapbooking. For some reason I can do mini albums but a full size scrap book page sends me running for the hills lol.

  17. Sorry it didn't work out, but I'm sure you'll get it. I haven't even been brave enough to try anything but a basic bifold card, so you're way ahead of me! I'm mainly a scrapbooker too.

  21. Thank you for sharing with us that you are human too! :) I have tried to make these types and they are not easy. I feel like I need additional hands to get everything done. Thank you for sharing the tutorial for those of us who may want to tackle this type of project.

  23. No offense here!! You sound just like me:-) It makes me feel good to know there is is someone else who gets glue in their hair! LOL My hubby worries that I am going over the carts on the floor and get hurt. I am new to cards, too -- just the flat variety, but I do plan to try some of the ideas I found on this hop. Thanks for sharing your story - love it!

  25. I am so sorry but I am busting out hysterically over this...First of all, I can TOTALLY relate. I also have a 13yr old son, and he just doesn't GET all this. When I viewed the video you linked to to see what a pop up twirl card is, I busted out laughing. You were one brave soul to try that out! Thanks for being so honest and admitting the epic fail..but I know you are probably much better at this than I. Don't lose faith or hope! :) I hope you still try it out again. I am interested in how it is made!

I am your blog neighbor on this hop. Have a great weekend! ~ Angie

  28. Hey girl! I totally understand. Since I do my projects, literally within an hour or two of when they are due (horrible habit), oft times I can't get them done either because I planned on them working out, when in fact either I didn't have the right product on hand or whatever, but it has happened to all of us I'm sure! Thanks for posting though and not just totally blowing it off! That's a nice thing in itself!
